Over the last 2 and a bit years my income has been mainly from affiliate marketing, ecommerce and some Google Adsense revenue. I did make a lot of money through using Facebook Ads to promote store products, however I’m not making or using Facebook as much as I used to the platforms changing weekly and conversions are down noticeably compared to previous months.

I think Facebook advertising still works and can work very well if you can allocate enough time to it. Constant changes in the platform, buggy interface and competition at an all time high makes Facebook ads a little more manual thanI like. Competitors have been reporting my page and my account was suspended briefly and I’m still unsure why.

This brought me to write this post about having more than one revenue stream and making passive income streams. With Facebook changing so much after the privacy shake down it’s made the work I do a little more manual and competitive, so while I learn the new curves on the platform my revenue there may suffer.

How can I avoid losing money?

You should always have more than 2 revenue streams in case one fails or throws you lemons. Facebook has thrown me a lemon. In this instance I pivot my focus to other revenue models to keep the money coming in.

I make a lot of my income from affiliate marketing and consultations with other ecommerce store owners and affiliate marketers. This is where I spend a lot of time BUT! I also use some other tactics that dont really require me to spend a lot of time on them and allow me to just check in onthem every now and then.

I’m going to share with you some methods that I use that are low effort to setup and take a very little amount of time to maintain weekly or monthly what ever you want to put into it. Here we go!

3 evergreen methods for making money with little work:

  1. Google Adsense & SEO
  2. Clickbank & JVZoo
  3. Email marketing

I’ll walk you through how I set these channels up and maintain them to bring in money with very little effort.

Google Adsense & SEO:

One of my favorite ways to make passive income but also one of the biggest love hate relationships I have online. Google Adsense is a way for website owners to get paid by Google for allowing them to advertise other related blogs, companies, products and offers on your website and everytime someone clicks that advert you get paid.

This is a very passive way to get paid from your website and requires traffic and a keen eye for keyword research. If you pick the right keywords with the right amount of cost per click metrics CPC you will be able to cash in on the Adsense revenue.

By ranking your websites with SEO methods your website will attract more clicks and then more ad revenue from the Adsense making it a very easy method to add money passively.

One thing I do find frustrating is how quickly Google bans users without any come back, if you loose your account it’s toast. Before you add Adsense to your website make sure you have the minimum required information up live on your website or risk burning your account before you even begin.

ClickBank & JVZoo:

Using affiliate offers from either the ClickBank marketplace or JVZoo sellers platform is a way that you can make money from your website by reviewing or promoting other peoples sales offers and products or software.

ClickBank – internet retailer of top quality lifestyle products allowing manufacturers to sell their products & digital marketers to promote them

JVZoo – Providing the network, tools and solutions essential for building a successful and profitable internet business.

Email Marketing:

When you build your email list what you are essentially doing is building your email following. You will have a list of people that think you are alright and you can provide value to by giving them information that they find helpful.

You never straight sell to your email list.

Now I make most of my passive income through email marketing and ranking websites in Google. The email marketing is good, but I don’t want my eggs in one basket so I also have ClickBank and Adsense websites.

I’ll start by showing you how I make money doing this with little effort after the setup phase. Those of you familiar with my ecommerce guides this is completely different tactics here and the money generated is a lot less but still very rewarding for the time spent on implementing it.

The sky is the limit for how much you can make with these methods as the technique is scalable where the more websites you setup the more revenue you can generate. Think of it as a way that you can grow once you master it just add another website or website(s) if its working.

I’m going to go through this in 3 steps.

This is about micro niche Adsense websites and this works for things like Clickbank products also. Let’s look at some passive income opportunities.

For this, you will need a website and hosting. I use Blue Host, They give you cheap hosting and a free domain.

Finding an Interest and Those Easy Keywords

This is where it all starts.

There are all types of types of passive income but this one works great for me.

Now you can either go with a micro niche website or a large authority site. However, keep in mind with an authority site it will take more work and generally, you will need to target larger harder keywords.

So the first step is to find a niche to get into.

What I do is go to the Stumbleupon Interest section and start scrolling. It’s a great idea to use this site because it’s so easy.

This image speaks for itself and you can see some of the interest that wouldn’t cross your mind.

You can also discover sub niches within a niche and really zone in on a market, one way you can do that is by using Discover a Hobby to find some obscure sub niches. This site is really helpful in finding alternative areas of opportunity.

All you need to do is find some niches then move on to the keyword research.

Let’s say you found a niche about “thermogenic supplements”.

Now what I would do is write down some seed keywords for my research.

  • thermogenic supplements
  • thermogenic supps
  • thermogenic fat burning pills
  • safe fat burning supplements
  • best fat burning pills
  • supplements that burn fat

Now that I have some keyword Ideas I head into SEMRush a keyword and competitor research software and start my research, this part really just depends on how you look at things.

My advice would be, don’t over think it and spend too much time doing this because you might get stuck and never move to the next step.

Using Long Tail Pro I throw all my seed keywords in then find keywords that fall into my specifications.

I generally go for something like this.

  • CPC $1+
  • Search volume 1000+ a month and below 15000 a month.
  • Keyword competition below 35 but ideally below 30
  • Websites that are not keyword optimized in the top 10
  • Low quality old outdated websites in the top 10

One thing to remember is, don’t get advertiser competition mixed up with keyword competition.

With keyword research only you can decide if the keyword is right for you, it’s up to you to do the research. I say this because keyword programs are just guidelines you can’t just click a magic button and find the best keywords on the internet. You want keywords the will generate income.

Let’s look at an example.

In the picture above I have found the keyword “organic fat burning supplements” with a search volume of 50 a month and cost per click of $3.00.

The search volume is at the lowest end, but most of the websites we will be competing against shouldnt have really strong onpage SEO strategies being used. This you will need to check to see what results show up for your keyword search phrases to get an idea of competition “at a glance”.

The top 10 websites also don’t have the best optimized titles so this is a good sign. They are good but I could do better if I focused on a three pronged attack.

3 Strategic Focuses:

  1. OnPage Optimisation & Click through rate fixes
  2. Create quality content for users
  3. Taking advantage of backlink opportunities

The next step would be to open all the top 10 and see how optimized the pages are, check to see how outdated the site is while you are doing this.

Should you check the backlinks of the top 10?

You can if you think that you need to take a deeper look. This applies if you feel that it will be a competitive position to get ranked for. I don’t always check them and it really is why you need to look at the results to see if there is any weaknesses in the competition and opportunity. It is good to look at one or two and see what type of link profile that they have. Are they using Web2.0 type links, PBN blog networks or citation business directory type links.

You can skim through or take a longer look at the backlinks that stand out as powerful and helping the competitor get to where they are.

Please keep in mind if you find other niche websites that are just made to rank for a passive income then most of the time they will have strong private blog networks pointing to them.

What would I do with the keyword above?

Since the keyword gets 50 searches a month I would find 2 more keywords that are around 50+ searches a month then write an article with all 3 keywords in it. You might say these search volumes are really low why target them? I would target them because of the search intent behind the keywords. People searching these keywords are more likely to purchase if shown the right product.

This will bring my article up in search volume bringing me in more monthly income and more importantly I should see a higher click through rate as the web page will be answering search intent once ranked.

As for all the other metrics like page and domain authority I look at these lightly since they can be manipulated with spam links, still take them into consideration. You should be thinking about data as a 3 point analysis and not blindly take the metrics of a tool.

Building A Quick and Easy Passive Income Micro Niche Website

This is step 2 and it’s important to get these websites set up quickly.

This online income method will not make you super rich and it will take time to make some good money out of it, this means speed is our best friend.

You can make a website yourself, It’s super easy!

I make all my own websites and I try to get the website fully setup with 4 articles in under 1 hour. I love reading about passive income ideas and this is a good one that works.

First, you will need some articles, I just pay someone to write my articles and you can use iWriter

I suggest fiverr for cheap average articles and upwrok for quality articles at a higher price.

For hosting, I host all my niche website over at Bluehost since they are quite cheap and I want to keep the price down.

I won’t go into much detail with this step because the formula is quite simple.

  • Nice clean website
  • Keyword optimized article
  • Google AdSense placement

If you don’t want to use a website you can use something like Instant Funnels to build landing pages and sales pages. I have a WordPress theme on this site called Divi and it comes loaded with landing page templates this is one of the fastest ways to run landing pages for paid advertising campaigns and can help boost your websites user activity and increase rankings.

CHEAP Website hosting with BlueHost

Hosting at $2.95 per month perfect for new bloggers looking for cheap hosting. The easy to deploy website hosting that is trusted my hundreds and thousands of bloggers globally.

Building Backlinks To boost Those Rankings

Today with Google you cant create content and wait for Google to let it rank and you need to move the needle a little faster by adding backlinks yourself. Could you imagine how hard it is to get natural backlinks to a website like this?

It’s very hard.

The ones who tell us natural backlinks are the key to Google rankings and passive income are the ones with massive blogs and websites that people want to actually link to.

The thing is these little micro niche websites are very simple and no one really knows about them so you will find it impossible to get natural backlinks. You might get some once you rank but you need to build your own backlinks until then.

My strategy right now involves 4 things

  • Guest Post & broken link outreach
  • Weebly Buffer Sites
  • Citation and Directories
  • Web 2.0 Network’s

I do enjoy getting my hands dirty on the SEO battlefield with most of my SEO work done by me and supported by my assistant. I first learnt about web 2.0’s as a ranking strategy when I was looking at a way to automate my backlinks. I was contemplating an automated system like Money Robot, you can read my full review of the software for a deeper understanding on what it does.

Building a network of web 2.0 properties directed to boost your websites power and authority is genius. This stuff works! I have ranked some super easy keywords with this strategy, I now incorporate this alongside guest posts and outreach link strategy to build a really diverse backlink profile.

Anyhow, the point is you need to build backlinks to your website to get them to rank….without backlinks nothing will happen and you have a dead site.

Have a look at some results.

This one here is position 21 from 9 backlinks. I dropped links on 7 high PA Tumblrs and made 2 Weebly web 2.0s linking to the website also.

Your content goes here. Edit or remove this text inline or in the module Content settings. You can also style every aspect of this content in the module Design settings and even apply custom CSS to this text in the module Advanced settings.

This one has around 25 Tumblr’s pointing to it, 3 Weebly’s and some outsourced SEO work.

As you can see those are some tasty results and it’s not very complicated.

I take no credit for this Tumblr strategy I actually learned it from someone who you will meet soon on our new forum we have started.

You can build yourself an army of web 2.0 profiles and sites to use as your own backlink generation network. This method works and can be helpful in building your sites reach for attracting visitors and enticing website clicks.

Right now what I do is buy the web 2.0 profile setup gig from fiverr and add content to them a couple of articles before linking out to my money websites. I treat these like my own little money sites and brand some of theme, they start with higher power than new websites simply because of main domain’s power.

Easy right?

Then I usually add 2 or 3 directory links for diversity. I remember reading an article somewhere about Google shutting down directories and they don’t work well anymore. They do work but you need to completely fill out the profile of the listing and try to use a unique description and add images if you can. The more realistic the directory listing looks the better chance it has to index.

Just remember those were spammy directories so if you find a couple of high quality ones you will be good, plus they are free links.

Now for that extra super strong link juice. Looking at your microsite’s niche and working out who the big authority websites are and where you can get featured content or a guest post talking about your website or niche and why its amazing is where the real power links come from.

There are also methods of creating your own network of expired or auction domain’s and using them to power up your websites. This method works very well for some peers that are big time into it but a caveat is that if you do this it is HARD work, expensive and not Google friendly.

Best Investment Ever!

I don’t have traditional PBN’s and instead use a diverse portfolio of web2.0 networks, Blogger outreach and business listings to increase my websites backlink profiles. I wouldn’t say owning or using PBN’s are blackhat but Id say they have their place in website rankings, they are expensive to setup and maintain and come with a huge risk to your investment and your online presence thanks to Google.

If you want alternative ways to make money online you could start a seller account of marketplaces like Fiverr or Legiit and use your SEO skills to pay the bills. If you own a PBN network this could be a way to make money online selling links.

I’m adding more accounts and profiles to my network every couple of months and do my best to make each one look like its own blogger business or actual real world business. to it every now and then slowly growing it.

You can outsource your SEO if you like but make sure you know what the person is doing and get reports. You could even add SEO to your passive income streams.

If you’re looking at making some money online and different types of income then this is something you should look into. Now you wont rank and bank overnight but you will set yourself up for some long term passive income that just plain works. It honestly is one of the most reliable ways of making money online that works.s is one of the best online passive income ideas and opportunities.

Key things to focus on will be your OnPage SEO and getting backlinks to power up your website. Without either of those you might as well be advertising in the dark so dont waste your time by not paying attention to these critical elements.

Spend some time on keyword research and making the website but spend your most valuable time on creating those backlinks and you will rank.

If you’re looking for more ways to create a passive income then you could learn how to start in affiliate marketing or starting a dropship store.

How Much Can You Really Make?

It comes down to you and what you invest into the sites. I aim to create a website to earn a low amount that would cover my lifestyle expense. I could say even a new beginner to this could earn $100-$900 a month per website.

People Ive worked with as beginners pick up skills really quickly

They tend to pick up one of these skills quite fast and get really bloody good at it and then learn the other skills to grow their portfolio even larger. To be a full stack marketer it will take time.

In my first year playing around online I made decent money and my learning phase sites were generating $60-90 per month per site call it beginners luck or just understanding online behaviour they did better than I thought.

Expect to make $50 a month per website and when you crack that and start making $70 a month you will have surpassed your own goals and also boosted your confidence especially as a newbie to make money online lifestyles.

Build yourself 10 websites as a starter pack. Now do the math x10 website making x$50 per month per site thats going to net you $500 monthly. Not bad for a lazy days work with little effort put into it after its all setup.

Now that money will keep coming in and thats when you can take advantage of what you know and scale the earnings by investing in content, graphics or more websites. Do this repatable process and you have an action plan for success.

Rinse and repeat, once you have it mastered find an assistant and teach them how you want things done to really scale it up. Go out there test and build to grow your passive income network.
